Derek Lloyd DeanIntroduction

We have had a very busy year and both Janet and I would like to thank you for the terrific support you have given us.

Gardeners are never happy with the weather but I think this year our patience has been tested to the limit. Pelargoniums do not like wet feet and dampness has been the big killer this year. The experts say this weather is the future so stiff upper lip and all that - and let's adapt and not be beaten.

Grow on the dry side; a cold/dry pelargonium stands a lot more chance than a wet/cold plant and if possible have a fan blowing during the critical periods of damp.

Since I last wrote the Forward to the last catalogue, I have travelled hundreds of miles, giving talks and meeting so many of you in various parts of the country. My father-in-Law Stan and myself would like to thank you for your warm welcome and the lovely cups of tea. We look forward to meeting you all again and hopefully some new clubs will contact me during the year.

Please note: I deal in Mail Order only (no personal callers) and I send out rooted cuttings. These you can pot up and, hopefully, watch them grow and flower. Pelargoniums do not like wet feet, so DO NOT overwater your plants as they will die.

The plants are sent out by 1st class letter post. This has been found to work well and ensures that you get the plants quickly; if damage does occur by the pony express, I will replace the plants as soon as possible.

Many thanks to you all who gave me information for the catalogue, but as usual, any errors are mine. The family do appreciate all the letters you send and on their behalf many, many thanks.

Welcome to our hobby,
and enjoy it.
We do.
Best Wishes,
DEREK and JANET
